Grades 7-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $35
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
““What is Christian Apologetics?”” Whether you are a new Christian, a seasoned Christian, or not a Christian, every student needs this class! TRUTH? “Can you handle the Truth?” or as Pontius Pilate famously asked, “What is Truth?” In a world where truth is quickly eroding into subjective feelings or whatever is hip in the culture at the moment, Christians must be ready to defend the faith as well as contend for it earnestly, like an athlete striving for victory with extreme intensity, as Jude states in the Scriptures. By learning the 12 points that prove Christianity is true (Dr. Norman Geisler), through the best-selling book, “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist” (Geisler & Turek), students will see Christianity is not only more reasonable but also more rational than any other belief system in our world. So, let’s begin the journey! We need to be strong in our convictions & know how to critically think in a world that wants nothing of that, especially if you are a Christian! **This is a graded class and is a great elective class for HS students to earn credit, though this class is for ANY student 7-12th. We alternate reading & workbook homework each week, but DON’T WORRY because we will WORK TOGETHER in class on weekly assignments/homework to ensure you understand. I am more concerned with effort and class participation, so as not to be overwhelmed with the material. We will also have class discussions, videos, and examples of real-life objections being answered. Whether you are a 7th grader or a 12th grader, you will gain something from this class.** Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions regarding the class. Let the Amazing journey begin!!”
Required Textbooks and Materials:

My other son, Isak, is 18, my oldest daughter, Hope is 15, and my youngest, Faith, is 9. I graduated from the University of TN, Knoxville, and I began my career as a Recreation Therapist in rehab centers and hospitals and did rehab for community re-entry patients with a private company. However, as my kiddos got older, I was divinely directed to not only stay at home with my kids but also homeschool them. After much prayer, we took the step of faith that God had put in both my husband’s and my heart to homeschool. After almost 13 years now of homeschooling, it has been a blessing. Anything good worth doing is usually not easy, and that goes without saying for homeschooling too, so I am grateful for my homeschool family at CCA, our Church, & others whom God has given us to help us in our journey! God has also enthusiastically put on my heart a love for Christian Apologetics, Logic Classes, & Student Ministry, and I am excited to share this with the next generation, so we can defend the faith with confidence & strength!

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Intro to Logic / How to Think Critically
Grades 7-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $30
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Welcome to the FUN class of LOGIC! Simply stated, “Logic is the principle of correct reasoning.” In this class, your students will become better at making good arguments but also learning how to spot bad ones! We will become fallacy detectives, learning to spot errors in people’s logic. You may ask, “Why is logic important?” Well, when we learn to use our minds to reason correctly, we tend to have true beliefs & therefore act on true beliefs, & acting on true beliefs can have far better outcomes than acting on false beliefs. For example, a person who doesn’t believe in gravity and wants to jump off a tall mountain with no negative consequences might see that experiment go south really quickly (no pun intended, Lol)! So, it is always to our advantage to reason correctly. From a Biblical Worldview, we will explore why thinking logically is consistent with how God intends us to think. So, put on your detective hats & let’s learn to detect good arguments vs bad ones & put yourself ahead of the rest! This class is a basic Introduction to Logic. It is a great class for any student in 7-12 grade! We will learn in class, as well as do fun exercises together. In order to learn logic, you must put logic to work, so there IS ”some” homework involved, but most work will be done as a group. This is a graded class, but most grades will come from in-class participation. Though, some of the grades will come from homework and a few quizzes to test your knowledge. DON’T WORRY-as long as you participate, you will have no trouble making a good grade in this class! So, let’s learn to reason logically together!
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Each Student must purchase Master Books’ “Introduction to Logic” (Student Edition-Textbook) by Jason Lisle. It can be purchased on the Master Books website: https://www.masterbooks.com/introduction-to-logic for about $25-27. You can also find this textbook at Christianbook.com for about the same price. A simple binder or folder will be helpful too in organizing papers from class. (Materials Fee will include: workbook curriculum, copies, & other class supplies)
Homework Estimate: 30 mins or less per week

Discipline, structure, and focus on Archery typically make a child a great life steward.

Teacher Bio:
“My son, Kaden, and I are the archery teachers at CCA. I have always been an avid hunter, but didn’t learn the techniques of shooting a bow for score until Kaden was about 6 years old. He attended a homeschool archery class at that time and has now gone on to obtain numerous National Championship titles. He is now competing at Semi-Pro level across the nation. Archery wasn’t as popular then as it is now, so I was forced to learn about the sport in order to coach Kaden at home. I have since obtained my coaches’ certification, started a youth archery team (TN Triple Threat), and opened a small bow shop in my garage. Outside of archery I have my own construction business.”

Grades 9-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $35
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Instruction for the Drawing class is based on “Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain,” a technique that allows students to draw what they see instead of what they think they see. Our early drawing of a house might be a square with a triangle on top. While that drawing is a representation of a house, it is not what a house really looks like. This technique gives instruction on how to draw the intricate details that make a drawing look “real,” while also enabling the students to portray their projects with perspective and proportion. As the year progresses, they will learn shading techniques, which give depth and value to a drawing. Students will also be instructed on how to effectively use other mediums such as pen and ink and colored pencils. After a few basic drawings are completed, students will be allowed to choose from other materials supplied and will progress at their own speed. Students will be required to bring or email me a reference picture that they are interested in drawing each week.

Grades 9-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $55
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
“Prerequisite: None. However, if your student was in my 7th/8th grade class 2025-26 school year, this is the same curriculum spine we used, so we would need to discuss if they are ready for Spanish 2 rather than Spanish 1. 8th graders can get high school Spanish 1 credit, but I would only recommend this class for advanced 8th grade students who have had some previous Spanish study and I would need to approve the student prior to registration. This is a challenging class. We will use the Spanish for You! Viajes curriculum as the spine. Students will work towards listening to, understanding, speaking, reading, and writing sentences, simple paragraphs and compositions useful in everyday life within the context of the units: Transportation, Mexico City, The Hotel, The Restaurant and The Beach. Students will be speaking and writing in full sentences within the first few weeks! The curriculum covers present tense of regular and irregular (stem changing) ar, er and ir verbs, command form, telling time, infinitive future tense, location phrases, personal pronouns, indefinite articles, article contractions, tener que, direct object pronouns, gustar, and basic sentence structure. I will be adding in Spanish-speaking country studies (customs, traditions, geography, cities, art, etc.), Bible verse memorization, and introducing briefly larger numbers, comparisons, days of the week, months of the year, noun/adjective agreement, weather and seasons and comparing ser and estar. Students will also do their own Spanish-speaking country studies and do a presentation about those in the spring. The class will be very interactive. All students will be participating verbally in class. That is the only way to learn to speak a language! ”
Required Textbooks and Materials:
“Textbooks: I have purchased classroom access rights to this curriculum, therefore you do not need to purchase any curriculum. I will provide it all digitally on Google Classroom, plus provide physical workbooks from Spanish For You! Viajes. Materials: Pencils, some lined notebook paper for notes, weekly student access to a computer for homework, access to a printer to print weekly homework packets (3-6 pages), which also requires home access to a stapler, staples, 3-hole punch, copy paper and printer ink. My husband works full-time with the organization as the Director of Latin Mission Teams. We previously spent almost 8 years in Asuncion, Paraguay, working on a mission team planting an urban church. We studied the Spanish language before moving to Paraguay, but truly became fluent by being immersed in the language and culture. Our jobs have taken us to Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay and Cuba. We have a passion for working among Hispanic people, culture, and language.

In 2008, I graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor’s in English, minoring in Secondary Education. Although I have never used that degree professionally, my experiences in college prepared me to teach this course and getting back to those roots has certainly reignited that interest. This school year marks my seventh year both homeschooling my son (Owen, who is 11) and daughter (AJ, who is 15) and teaching at CCA. I enjoy reading, history, writing, kayaking, being creative in any way, running my art studio, and planning. I look forward to having all of the students in class!

1:30 PM – 2:30 PM Start Your Own Business Now!
Grades 9-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $10
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Come learn how to start your own business. Don’t wait until you graduate! Do it now! In this class, students will start their own business and, in the process, learn about creating and understanding their vision and their mission for their businesses. They will learn about marketing, sales, advertising, customer relations, inventory, profits, services, employees, and managing their business. There’s no better way to learn than to dive in and start doing! These are all skills that they can grow up with and apply to their future businesses as adults if they choose entrepreneurship as their careers. Students will learn hands on and will have to learn to be creative to solve problems and overcome obstacles to start their own profitable businesses. We’ll learn to answer questions like: Why do businesses fail? Why do businesses succeed? Why would two similar business ideas have different outcomes / profit margins? Students will hear from local business people and young entrepreneurs (some of whom are CCA grads) who have successfully started their own businesses in the real world. This isn’t a class that the student can come and just listen or goof off in. All students will be accountable to the teachers and other students to dive in and get started. We will hit the ground running. Every student will be starting their first business before the end of the fall semester and show it off at the Christmas Makers Market in early December.
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Students will need access to a computer at home. A laptop would be helpful but is not required. Students will not all need to purchase the same materials, but they may need to make some investment in supplies, depending on their business.
Homework Estimate: Amount of homework will fluctuate throughout the year and will increase as their businesses get started. We will encourage the students to see it as a time investment in their business rather than homework. There will likely be times the success of their business is a reflection of the amount of time spent working and researching outside of class.
Teacher Bio:
“Mary Besse has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. She is the founder of CCA and directed it for 10 years. After handing over the directorship to Ms. Hilarie, she opened The Front Porch Cafe here in Lebanon. She still serves on the board of our tutorial. Before starting CCA, Ms. Mary also was a lead instructor at a local martial arts studio, she began and owned a photography business, and owned and operated a homemade meals to go business. Tim Lance has a desire for students to be prepared for a thriving adulthood. He and his wife Melissa began homeschooling 13 years ago. His family became part of the initial CCA class in 2014. Tim began serving as the Administrative Pastor of The Journey Church in 2018. Prior to his current role, he served over 30 years in operations/logistics with multiple retail establishments and non-profits. When Tim’s daughter was 11, he helped her establish a thriving baking business. Scott Marlow is a serial entrepreneur. He has created a series of marketing and software businesses online and is working on another one currently. On the rare occasion that Scott has a glimmer of a clue of what he’s doing, he builds a solo online business and usually experiences a modicum of success. When he doesn’t have a clue (which is most of the time) he puts his superpower to work, which is hiring really excellent people who are much smarter than him. Scott has found that this is the real secret to success in building a business. Scott has also recently begun a new real estate investing venture and enjoys encouraging young people to explore the possibilities of real estate investing for themselves. ”

My family of 5 has been homeschooling for 14 years. Two of our three kids are now in college studying at Freed-Hardeman University. We have been at CCA for 9 years. We worship with the Maple Hill Church of Christ. I have been working for 7 years, part-time with the non-profit missionary organization, Great Cities Missions, where I serve as the Latin Team’s Women’s Consultant.

Class Description:
“In the Fall semester we will explore acrylic painting and techniques. We will begin with a color wheel to lay a foundation of color theory, understanding how colors work and mix together and will then create a monochromatic painting. From there we will move to still life, practice of forms, fruit and peppers. We will do studies of European masters creating an understanding of composition development. Eventually students will create artwork more independently with guidance as the semester closes. In the Spring we will dive into watercolor and the almost endless techniques and experimentation it offers with salt, rubbing alcohol, crayons, pastels, etc. Through many guided projects students will build their skills and eventually create their own pieces of art in their sketchbooks towards the end of the year. *High schoolers will get the bonus of working with masking fluid, studying the work of John Singer Sargent, and discussing careers in art. **For students wanting to take this class a second year in a row, I have a yearly rotation and we will explore the same techniques, but with different projects.**”
