Grades 3-4Tuition: 24 weeks (1-hour class) – $176
Materials Fee: $25
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
In Archery class, we will start from the beginning using the USA Archery National Training System. The goal of this class is not just to get kids to shoot a bow but to understand that Archery is about technique, form, and having fun. We will apply the steps of the NTS and learn about the equipment we shoot, the different styles of Archery, the scoring and targets of each, and mostly how to have fun in a sport we grow to love. Discipline, structure, and focus on Archery typically make a child a great life steward.
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Each student needs their own bow and arrows. Please reach out to me before purchasing any equipment. Bows are like shoes, most aren’t a universal fit. Please refer to the teacher directory for my phone number.
Homework Estimate: Each student should practice at least two days outside of class to apply the skills the are learning in class.
Teacher Bio:
“My son, Kaden, and I are the archery teachers at CCA. I have always been an avid hunter, but didn’t learn the techniques of shooting a bow for score until Kaden was about 6 years old. He attended a homeschool archery class at that time and has now gone on to obtain numerous National Championship titles. He is now competing at Semi-Pro level across the nation. Archery wasn’t as popular then as it is now, so I was forced to learn about the sport in order to coach Kaden at home. I have since obtained my coaches’ certification, started a youth archery team (TN Triple Threat), and opened a small bow shop in my garage. Outside of archery I have my own construction business.”

9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Programming with Robotics
Grades 3-4Tuition: 24 weeks (1-hour class) – $176
Materials Fee: $25
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
“This course is an introduction to programming using VEX IQ robots. Students will focus entirely on coding and problem-solving; the robots will be prebuilt, so no construction experience is required. Over the course, students will work through a structured series of programming projects that gradually increase in difficulty. We will begin with block-based programming to learn how to control motors, drive and turn the robot, and manipulate field elements using both driver-controlled and autonomous routines. From there, students will apply the core building blocks of programming — variables, conditionals, loops, functions, structured logic, and debugging — within increasingly challenging robot-based tasks. Students who are ready may transition from block programming to Python. Each student will work at their own pace. When a project is completed successfully, it is checked off and the student moves on to the next challenge. The curriculum is the same for all students; younger students may move more gradually, while older or faster-moving students may advance into more complex projects. Students are welcome to ask one another for help, but each student is responsible for completing their own work. Because students are programming real robots in a physical space, they will encounter practical engineering challenges that do not appear in screen-only coding. Movements must be precise, timing matters, and small programming errors have visible consequences. The goal of the course is not only to introduce coding, but to develop logical thinking, troubleshooting skills, and disciplined problem-solving in a hands-on environment. This course is designed for self-motivated students who enjoy problem solving and challenging themselves. Technology Requirement: Each student must bring a fully functional laptop (Windows or Mac) capable of running VEXcode IQ and connecting to a VEX IQ robot via USB. Parents are welcome to bring their laptops to me ahead of time to check compatibility. Chromebooks, iPads, and other tablets are not supported for this class. Students are responsible for ensuring their laptop is charged and operational before class. Devices that cannot reliably connect to the robot will prevent participation in programming activities. No prior programming or robotics experience is required.”
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Working Laptop that is compatible with Vex IQ Coding (not compatible with Chromebook, IPads, or other tablets)
Homework Estimate: No homework, but kids are free to program at home and get ahead if they wish.
Teacher Bio:

Teacher Bio:
I am excited to explore God’s awesome animal creations with the students at CCA! I have a BS degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood from USF and have taught grades k-8 in the public school systems in Tampa, South Florida, New York, and at homeschool tutorials in Tennessee and Florida. My husband, Robert, and I have been married for thirty-six years, and we have four children who have all graduated from our homeschool. I love Jesus, my family, animals, working out, chocolate, coffee, the beach, the mountains, and living in this exceptional country! I’m looking forward to a great school year! God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!
