Materials Fee: $30
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
“What is Christian Apologetics? Whether you are a new Christian, a seasoned Christian, or not a Christian, every student needs this class! TRUTH? “Can you handle the Truth?” or as Pontius Pilate famously asked, “What is Truth?” In a world where truth is quickly eroding into subjective feelings or whatever is hip in the culture at the moment, Christians must be ready to defend the faith as well as contend for it earnestly, like an athlete striving for victory with extreme intensity, as Jude states in the Scriptures. By learning the 12 points that prove Christianity is true (Dr. Norman Geisler), through the best-selling book, “I Don’t Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist” (Geisler & Turek), students will see Christianity is not only more reasonable but also more rational than any other belief system in our world. So, let’s begin the journey! We need to be strong in our convictions & know how to critically think in a world that wants nothing of that, especially if you are a Christian! **This is a graded class and is a great elective class for HS students to earn credit. Though this class is for ANY student 7-12th. We alternate reading & workbook homework each week, but DON’T WORRY because we will WORK TOGETHER in class on weekly assignments/homework to ensure you understand. I am more concerned with effort and class participation, so as not to be overwhelmed with the material. We will also have class discussions, videos, and examples of real-life objections being answered. Whether you are a 7th grader or a 12th grader, you will gain something from this class.** Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions regarding the class. Let the Amazing journey begin!!”

9:00AM – 10:00PM Intro to Logic/How to Think Critically
Grades 7-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $30
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
“Welcome to the FUN class of LOGIC! Simply stated, “Logic is the principle of correct reasoning.” In this class, your students will become better at making good arguments but also learning how to spot bad ones! We will become fallacy detectives, learning to spot errors in people’s logic. You may ask, why is logic important? Well, when we learn to use our minds to reason correctly, we tend to have true beliefs & therefore act on true beliefs, & acting on true beliefs can have far better outcomes than acting on false beliefs. For example, a person who doesn’t believe in gravity and wants to jump off a tall mountain with no negative consequences might see that experiment go south really quickly (no pun intended, Lol)! So, it is always to our advantage to reason correctly. From a Biblical Worldview, we will explore why thinking logically is consistent with how God intends us to think. So, put on your detective hats & let’s learn to detect good arguments vs bad ones & put yourself ahead of the rest! This class is a basic Introduction to Logic. It is a great class for any student in 7-12 grade! We will learn in class, as well as do fun exercises together. In order to learn logic, you must put logic to work, so there IS “”some”” homework involved, but most work will be done as a group. This is a graded class, but most grades will come from in-class participation. Though, some of the grades will come from homework and a few quizzes. Don’t worry-as long as you participate, you will have no trouble making a good grade in this class! So, let’s learn to reason logically together!”
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Each Student must purchase Master Books’ “Introduction to Logic” (Student Edition-Textbook) by Jason Lisle. It can be purchased on the Master Books website: https://www.masterbooks.com/introduction-to-logic for about $27. You can also find this textbook at Christianbook.com for about the same price. A simple binder or folder will be helpful too in organizing papers from class. (Materials Fee will include workbook, copies, & other class supplies)
Homework Estimate: Only about 30 mins per week

Additionally, an archery tab is needed to aid in shooting the bow (preferred is Bateman TC3 Three Finger Under Tab https://lancasterarchery.com/products/bateman-tc3-three-finger-under-tab ). http://www.lancasterarchery.com is a good source for finding the equipment needed. A soft or hard-shelled case for transporting and containing equipment at CCA is essential. Optional equipment needed: resistance exercise bands for physical therapy (Amazon/Walmart). **You may rent a bow from CCA for $75 for the year. Your child will not be able to take this bow home for practice. (An additional materials fee check will need to be written to CCA for $75 dated 5/1/25 at the time of registration if you are renting.)

Teacher Bio:
I have been married to my wife, Katreece, for 22 years as of June 28th. We have three children: Kaden (2025 CCA Graduate), Jalyn 11th grade, and Emmie 9th grade. We own our own construction business, McGrath Construction. I have always loved bow hunting, but didn’t get into archery competitions until my son, Kaden, was about 7 years old. Back then, archery clubs weren’t as common as they are now, so I had to learn everything on my own. Due to the scarce population of archery clubs in Middle TN, I decided to start my own club, TN Triple Threat, in 2019. I obtained my Coach’s certification and began offering private lessons to archers around the area. As a family, we travel around the country for various competitions. Our team, TN Triple Threat, has won numerous state titles and National titles. Bobby Smith was a good friend of mine, and I had known him for a long time. It is with a heavy heart that I try to fill some big shoes. I promised him I would take care of his students, and I intend to do just that. I’m looking forward to sharing this sport with your child alongside my son, Kaden.

I’m excited to be given the opportunity to explore with students the details of God’s amazing creation & to expand their views of how great our Creator is! This will be my seventh year of formal teaching at CCA, my 11th year at CCA, and my 16th year as a homeschool mom of four amazing children. In my previous life, I worked as a registered nurse and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Through the years, I’ve always had a heart for teaching. Understanding the why and the how behind concepts not only helps us retain & apply the information but also allows us to marvel at the tapestry of God’s detailed plan and worship Him at a deeper level. I currently teach High School Biology, High School Health, and Jr. High General Science at CCA. In my spare time, I serve on the Board of CCA out of a desire to be of assistance to the wonderful families who attend and those who run this fabulous organization.

Grades 9-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $35
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Instruction for the Drawing class is based on “Drawing from the Right Side of the Brain,” a technique that allows students to draw what they see instead of what they think they see. Our early drawing of a house might be a square with a triangle on top. While that drawing is a representation of a house, it is not what a house really looks like. This technique gives instruction on how to draw the intricate details that make a drawing look “real,” while also enabling the students to portray their projects with perspective and proportion. As the year progresses, they will learn shading techniques, which give depth and value to a drawing. Students will also be instructed on how to effectively use other mediums such as pen and ink and colored pencils. After a few basic drawings are completed, students will be allowed to choose from other materials supplied and will progress at their own speed. Students will be required to bring or email me a reference picture that they are interested in drawing each week.

“Hello all! When I discovered that this course needed a teacher, I jumped on the opportunity. In 2008, I graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor’s in English, minoring in Secondary Education. Although I have never used that degree professionally, my experiences in college prepared me to teach this course, and getting back to those roots has certainly reignited that interest. This school year marks my sixth year both homeschooling my son (Owen, who is 10) and daughter (AJ, who is 14) and teaching at CCA. 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM Start Your Own Business Now!
Grades 9-12Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $230
Materials Fee: $0
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Come learn how to start your own business. Don’t wait until you graduate! Do it now! In this class, students will start their own business and, in the process, learn about creating and understanding their vision and their mission for their businesses. They will learn about marketing, sales, advertising, customer relations, inventory, profits, services, employees, and managing their business. There’s no better way to learn than to dive in and start doing! These are all skills that they can grow up with and apply to their future businesses as adults if they choose entrepreneurship as their careers. Students will learn hands on and will have to learn to be creative to solve problems and overcome obstacles to start their own profitable businesses. We’ll learn to answer questions like: Why do businesses fail? Why do businesses succeed? Why would two similar business ideas have different outcomes / profit margins? Students will hear from local business people and young entrepreneurs (some of whom are CCA grads) who have successfully started their own businesses in the real world. This isn’t a class that the student can come and just listen or goof off in. All students will be accountable to the teachers and other students to dive in and get started.
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Students will need access to a computer at home. A laptop would be helpful but is not required. Students will not all need to purchase the same materials, but they may need to make some investment in supplies, depending on their business.
Homework Estimate: Amount of homework will fluctuate throughout the year and will increase as their businesses get started. We will encourage the students to see it as a time investment in their business rather than homework. There will likely be times the success of their business is a reflection of the amount of time spent working and researching outside of class.
Teacher Bio:
Mary Besse has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. She is the founder of CCA and directed it for 10 years. After handing over the directorship to Ms. Hilarie, she opened The Front Porch Cafe here in Lebanon. She still serves on the board of our tutorial. Before starting CCA, Ms. Mary also was a lead instructor at a local martial arts studio, she began and owned a photography business, and owned and operated a homemade meals to go business. Tim Lance has a desire for students to be prepared for a thriving adulthood. He and his wife Melissa began homeschooling 12 years ago. His family became part of the initial CCA class in 2014. Tim began serving as the Administrative Pastor of The Journey Church in 2018. Prior to his current role, he served over 30 years in operations/logistics with multiple retail establishments and non-profits. When Tim’s daughter was 11, he helped her establish a thriving baking business. Scott Marlow is a serial entrepreneur. He has created a series of marketing and software businesses online and is working on another one currently. On the rare occasion that Scott has a glimmer of a clue of what he’s doing, he builds a solo online business and usually experiences a modicum of success. When he doesn’t have a clue (which is most of the time) he puts his superpower to work, which is hiring really excellent people who are much smarter than him. Scott has found that this is the real secret to success in building a business. Scott has also recently begun a new real estate investing venture and enjoys encouraging young people to explore the possibilities of real estate investing for themselves.
