My name is Timo Serrano. I was born in Southern California. My dad is pastor. He is from Mexico and my mom is from El Salvador. Because my mom didn’t speak English before I was 6 or so, my first language was Spanish. I learned English from regular elementary public school. My parents took me back to their countries and to plenty of missionary trips as a child and teenager all across Latin America. As a teacher, I deeply desire for my students to communicate in Spanish, for language is a powerful tool that unites people and fosters understanding in our diverse world. Through this skill, they will not only build bridges to share the love of Christ but also contribute to the flourishing of society, strengthening God’s kingdom on earth.

Materials Fee: $25
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Welcome to Archery Class. We will start from the beginning using the USA Archery National Training System. The goal of this class is not just to get kids to shoot a bow but to understand that Archery is about technique, form, and having fun. We will apply the steps of the NTS and learn about the equipment we shoot, the different styles of Archery, the scoring and targets of each, and mostly how to have fun in a sport we grow to love. They will do some target building, learn about bow mechanics, and ultimately leave this class knowing what Archery is truly about. Discipline, structure, and focus on Archery typically make a child a great life steward. To me, the real blessing is just that. Thank you for your interest in CCA archery class!
Required Textbooks and Materials:
Please contact Branden McGrath *before buying* to ensure you are purchasing what is needed. In general, a Recurve or Genesis Compound Bow and arrows are needed for this class. The type can depend on your child’s size and what the bow will possibly be used for in the future. Additionally, an archery tab is needed to aid in shooting the bow (preferred is Bateman TC3 Three Finger Under Tab https://lancasterarchery.com/products/bateman-tc3-three-finger-under-tab ). http://www.lancasterarchery.com is a good source for finding the equipment needed. A soft or hard-shelled case for transporting and containing equipment at CCA is essential. Optional equipment needed: resistance exercise bands for physical therapy (Amazon/Walmart). **You may rent a bow from CCA for $75 for the year. Your child will not be able to take this bow home for practice. (An additional materials fee check will need to be written to CCA for $75 dated 5/1/25 at the time of registration if you are renting.)

Teacher Bio:
I have been married to my wife, Katreece, for 22 years as of June 28th. We have three children: Kaden (2025 CCA Graduate), Jalyn 11th grade, and Emmie 9th grade. We own our own construction business, McGrath Construction. I have always loved bow hunting, but didn’t get into archery competitions until my son, Kaden, was about 7 years old. Back then, archery clubs weren’t as common as they are now, so I had to learn everything on my own. Due to the scarce population of archery clubs in Middle TN, I decided to start my own club, TN Triple Threat, in 2019. I obtained my Coach’s certification and began offering private lessons to archers around the area. As a family, we travel around the country for various competitions. Our team, TN Triple Threat, has won numerous state titles and National titles. Bobby Smith was a good friend of mine, and I had known him for a long time. It is with a heavy heart that I try to fill some big shoes. I promised him I would take care of his students, and I intend to do just that. I’m looking forward to sharing this sport with your child alongside my son, Kaden.

Before my daughter was born, I taught kindergarten in the public school system, but have also taught various other grades and in the private sector. My husband, Walker, and I have been married for 17 years. We love our church, The Journey, and are very active in the various ministry opportunities found there. This is my seventh year teaching for CCA, and I taught in the public school system for 10 years. My passion is to educate children.
