Teacher: Gwen Schaetz
Tuition: 30 weeks (1-hour class) – $220
Materials Fee: $ $20
Optional Lab:
Class Description:
Manners that matter! God’s idea first! Matthew 7:12 tells us to do to others what we would want done to us! Manners are more than rules, skills, or behaviors like saying “please and thank you.” Manners show others what is inside us and reveal our true character to those who won’t have a chance to get to know you. Etiquette is rooted in respect and thoughtfulness. We will be learning everything from dining out manners, social media etiquette, proper introductions, table settings, party etiquette, manners at home, correct posture and stance in a group photo, and much much more! No one likes to feel insecure and clueless! Your child will gain the confidence that comes with knowing exactly what to do in difficult situations! Public speaking or “courageous conversation” will be the focus for the last 8 weeks. This makes the “top 5 list of biggest fears” on the planet! We never know where the Lord may place our children in the future or what may be required of them. Knowing how to deliver a great speech, interview, thought, or idea may be the difference between success or failure. We will focus on the do’s and don’ts of the delivery, incorporating proper posture, eye contact, voice inflection, gestures, expressions, etc. We will conquer this fear with easy-to-learn tips, conversation games, impromptu speeches or demonstrations, and practice practice practice. “All the great speakers were bad speakers at first.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I saw quickly how mastering those skills gave me the confidence I needed many times in my life. I am a graduate of The University of Tennessee and my first job was teaching a 4 year old kindergarten class at a private Jewish school -I have truly loved teaching ever since!
